I wish that we had thought to do this little sooner... however, at three years old, i'm sure there is still so much we can contribute. There are so many things Kyle does, and so many cute phrases and words he comes out with, that we wanted a place to store it all, so that in times to come, we can relive them when we take a stroll back through memory lane. We hope you enjoy reading them too.....

Back to School

The summer hols have come and gone, and winter is on it's way!! Pre-school is now 5 days a week, and you are coming along in leaps and bounds. I was gob-smacked when you came home the other day signing your ABC's... You've only just learnt them, and now you are learning to sign them!!! (see video clip)

During the holidays you enjoyed our holiday to south Africa to see family and friends, and of course you enjoyed spending time in the Pilansberg game reserve where our animal sightings were fantastic... especially at the hide, where you were as good as gold sitting for ages waiting for animals to come and drink at the waterhole. Your patience was rewarded, as Elephants, a lion and even a leopard came down to drink! how fantastic! you love relaying the story of how you nearly fell off your chair when the elephant trumpeted and chased the leopard away.

Then it was down to Umhlanga, for a fun filled week with Auntie Tracey, mom and dad... Your highlights were the beach and of course USHAKA.

And now that we are back and into the swing of things again.. you have so much to look forward to - halloween disco next week, Bonfire night, a weekend in London to see the christmas lights, Santa's grotto at Eastleigh minature train station, and of course Santa's visit.. which will be here before we know it!!!

Mini Minor Tennis

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Yesterday you had your first attempt at mini minor tennis - which is for 3 - 6 year olds and is held at a big indoor tennis centre. The mini minor tennis is played on a special miniature court, with mini rackets.

We thought that as Swimming and soccertots has stopped for the summer holidays we would try it out.

Well, you just loved it. You couldn't wait to get onto the court, pushing your way to the front of the queue to pay your £2.50 - and were not happy with mommy when I made you stand at the back of the queue and wait!!

As soon as you'd told the teacher your name and payed over the money, you were gone!! Straight onto the court chatting away to the other boys and girls. Just seeing you run off so confidently made us so proud....

The lesson started with some running and side steps up and down the court, and you enthusiastically threw yourself into this exercise.. giving a running commentary to all who would listen as you did this.
Then it was onto basic ball skills with some balancing of the ball on the racket, and taking turns at hitting the ball over the net. Twice you actually hit it!!! I had to control myself and resist jumping up yelling and clapping!!

Then there were ball games, dodgeball was your favourite and you actually won!!

Needless to say, I think this is going to become a regular saturday morning event. of course, Mom and dad don't mind as we get a 40 min coffee date!!!

Kyle with Incy Wincey Spider Grandad

Kyle thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandad who spoiled him rotten when he was over. Lots of cuddles, night time stories and incy Wincey spider tickles kept kyle (and Grandad) entertained.

Kyle is looking forward to seeing Grandad in September!

My first trip on the Hovercraft

Grandad and Mommy took me to the Isle of Wight on the hovercraft. it was fantastic, and the trip was "bumpy lumpy!" - mommy got a little scared, so I held her hand.

The trip only took 10 minutes, and when we were there we sat at the front of a double decker bus, and traveled to http://www.amazonworld.co.uk/ which was FANTASTIC.....

After amazon world we went on an open top double decker bus back to the hovercraft for our return trip.
It was so much fun.

You can click on the video clip of the hovercraft (on the Left hand side of this page) to see it.

So proud of our "duckling"!

Kyle has proudly received his first swimming certificate and badge. He goes swimming every wednesday morning, and loves it. It is not only swimming lessons, they also play lots of fun games, have songs and actions, and use lots of props like floats and seal sticks (which they have to go under the water to pick up off the bottom).

Written on this certificate is a summary of the required elements of this award which are:
  • Making a supervised safe entry into the pool
  • Kicking 2 meters whilst floating on back with adult support
  • Floating on the back with floatation support
  • Blow bubbles at the water surface
  • Wet head
  • Travel without assistance 2 metres to a floating object - buoyancy aid may be used.

Ready, Steady...... COOK!!!

Kyle loves to bake - we play a game called Mommy Cook, little cook!! (it's after a programme over here called big cook little cook on the kiddies cartoon channel!!)

This day we made Dalek biscuits... they were awesome and Kyle enjoyed helping to roll out the dough and use the Dalek cookie Cutter to make the shapes...
As you can see, he had fun pushing the rice bits in, and also decorating with the gooey jam type icing at the end....

Not only did they look good, but they tasted yummy too!!!!

Chicken Pops!

For a couple of months now, we've seen the chicken pox warnings at pre-school, and everytime I dropped kyle off, there'd be one or two more cases reported...

Well, now it's Kyle's turn!

His "pops" as he calls them started to appear a couple of days ago, but thankfully, there aren't too many, and they don't seem to be annoying him at all.

He started scratching a big one on his chest and ankle, but we've told him that if he scratches the "pops" a feather will pop out and he'll turn into a chicken!!!!! He laughs hysterically at this thought, but it seems to have done the trick!

so far so good... it's just kyle's social life that has taken a bit of a knock, and very annoying not being able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather we are having!

Kyle the "budding photographer"

Kyle has started to show an interest in taking photographs. He will often go and get the camera, turn it on, take a few pictures and then put it back. Most of the time when i'm downloading pictures I will find a few that he has taken... we can tell this because they are taken of things at his "eye level" like the computer keyboard, the TV, or shots looking up at people...

Some pictures he has taken however are really impressive.

Here is his portfolio so far:

Kyle did however take his new "hobby" a little too far the other day. I was in the shower washing my hair, when all of a sudden I heard a little voice say "say cheeeeeese mommy!!"
Imagine the panic when, through soap sudded eyes, I see a flash go off, and hear my son saying "aaaah, that's a nice photo!!"
Thank goodness for digital cameras. Imagine my embarresment having to hand that in for development!!
Needless to say, that picture will NOT be displayed in this posting!

Mischievous Moments

There have been more than this... but I only have "proof" of these few moments....

But how can you be angry with a face that cute???
